URBAN OUTFITTERS, ANTHROPOLOGIE AND FREE PEOPLE
Multiple International Locations
NARRATIVE, BRANDING AND DESIGN CONCEPT
Urban Outfitters began as a small boutique in Philadelphia in the 1970s, designed to cater to the lifestyle of young people who lived and shopped there. Phil was involved in the Seattle music scene during the Sub Pop years and was invited to be a part of the development of the UO store concept based on his then loft party vibe. We helped take the brand from the first few locations to the international stage. After helping Urban Outfitters become a household name, we were asked to help take the connection further with the birth of Anthropologie where we designed the first flagship in a very hands-on manner. From fixtures and finishes to environments, we created the first dozen prototypes that have gone on to serialize all over the world. Later, we were invited to take the lead role in developing Free People - the premier destination for the adventurous, free-wheeling, and bohemian crowd. We kickstarted the original research for audience focus, design concept, architecture, and interior design as well as execution of the first prototype store locations.
